Rado Watches

In 1917 Rado watches started in Lengnau, Switzerland manufacturing just watch movements. It wasn't until 1957 that the company launched its first collection of watches under the Rado brand name.

In 1962 they unveiled the Rado Diastar Original, which was the world's first scratch-proof watch. To this day it is still in production and holds its elite position by its technological innovations that they are still producing.

A Rado watch differs from some of the more conventional elegant Swiss watchmakers in that it uses unconventional precious materials to attain a more futuristic appearance. Rado has initiated the use of a number of these materials including high-tech diamonds, ceramics, lanthanum and sapphire crystal.

Many of Rado's watches include the use of steel & gold blended with advanced materials to provide affordability to consumers as well as the versatile scratch resistant material.

In 1990 they were the first to release a watch with a fully ceramic bracelet called the Ceramica, which continues a best-selling classic. Rado watches also look very unlike most of the other luxury watch makers.

The company is much more courageous in building the shape of its watches than would normally be expected of a high-end watch maker. This gives their watches a more distinct Rado look.

Like many other watch companies, Rado watches have high-profile personalities that publicize the brand name in individual ways. Nevertheless, Rado differs from many other manufacturers as its ambassadors are less identifiable to the general public than usual.

Rado even uses this information itself as an advertising method. As an example one of Andy Warhol's last paintings was one of Rado watches.

It has taken many years for Rado to build up these techniques, which today makes up the core expertise of its material and technological developments. Their concept of "beauty that stays beautiful," allows the wearer the stunning beauty of Rado watches which is certain to last a lifetime.
